Determined mom wants more news, music, and games
Dear Live Grand:
My mother was the first female police officer in her community, so understandably, she loves law enforcement history. Unfortunately, she’s developed some memory glitches now that make navigating computers and cell phones tough. With even the local paper online she’s missing so much, and I think she feels left out of the loop of life. She’s never been patient, and this is all causing her a lot of frustration. Mom always liked crossword puzzles and playing cards, and she loves both classic rock and country music. Would a GrandPad help her feel more connected to the world? - MH
Dear MH:
Wow, we can only imagine the stories your mom could tell about her early years as a police officer!
Her frustration over feeling disconnected because of confusing technology is a common one for older adults. That’s why GrandPad developed an easy-to-navigate, comfortable tablet that allows seniors to safely use electronics without the risks and the cluttered interface of other devices.
We’re thinking first of your mom’s loss of access to local news since many newspapers have moved to online only. With a GrandPad, the family admin could add the newspaper site to her safe Internet app and sign her in. This connection, along with GrandPad’s nice-sized screen, would enable her to read her local news.
GrandPad’s Internet app would also give her a way to safely search for articles and news stories online so she could choose what she enjoys. The pre-sets for Growing Bolder and NPR would be interesting resources for her.
If she needed any assistance using her GrandPad, she’d just tap the Help icon and her very own dedicated representative would answer!
The Radio app has many pre-set stations including GrandPad Radio for music and talk, but the family admin could add additional stations that she likes so she’d have another way to access local news and entertainment
She’d be sure to like the Music app with its many choices of rock and roll era music as well as country. She could mix it up for her own Music Collection just by touching a button to add songs.
The Games app would give her ready access to crosswords, Sudoku, a memory game, and several card games so she’d have a great variety to choose from.
Of course, she’d have her easy-to-use Call app where she’d place a video/audio call to anyone added to her Contacts by tapping a button next to their photo. She’d receive a call just by touching Answer when she sees someone’s image come up. There are no unwanted spam calls or junk emails either because only the people added to her Contacts could reach her.
Your mom would love viewing family photos and videos that are uploaded to her GrandPad and of course read articles, check her weather, and even relax with the Moods app. There are so many options with a GrandPad, MH, that she’s bound to feel more connected to everything that’s important to her.
